The picture was captured in Romania, Gheorgheni, Csiky garden - arboretum. It was a very special occasion for me, because it was the first time to met with Nut Weevil. The insect's specialty is the long snout. The species name of this Nut weevil is Curculio nucum. Technical specifications: Nikon D5300, Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5 – 5.6 (Reverse lens), 1/200s, iso 100, F/11, Homemade flash diffuser, hand-held.
It's the story of children and grandparents. Grandparents are the ones who tell stories. The light of the story lies outside the old house. And now I hear the story my grandparents were saying and starting: Here comes ... and the story continues every day in a different way.
Most street performers I've encountered during my travels had this certain...commercial attitude and sometimes even arrogance. That "hey, I'm trying to make a living here" kind of attitude. One even shouted after me because of some coins of the wrong currency. But not this old violonist on the streets of Budapest. He was real. He was genuine. He was playing with his eyes closed, with passion and without giving any importance to the response of his (little) audience. He was playing because that's what he loved to do.
" 'Amateur'. You say that as if it were a dirty word or something. But amateur comes from the latin word "amare, which means love, love! Do the things for the love of it."

Fire on the Apuseni Mountains, Alba County, Romania. Here are the Salciua de Jos viilage, view from the Bedeleu rock. The villagers use to put fire on their land to clean it and prepare it for the next year, but here, the wind starts to blow and the fire is lost out of control, burning 10ha of woods.
"Bigar" waterfall on a foggy winter morning.
This waterfall from Caras-Severin, Romania reached world fame in 2013 when The World Geography Magazine placed it in the first position of its 8 Unique Waterfalls Around the World guide. Located in Cheile Nerei-Beusnita National Park, Bigar Waterfall is placed exactly on the 45th north parallel.
Corvin Castle was laid out in 1446, when construction began at the orders of John Hunyadi (Hungarian: Hunyadi János, Romanian: Iancu or Ioan de Hunedoara) who wanted to transform the former keep built by Charles I of Hungary. The castle was originally given to John Hunyadi's father, Voyk (Vajk), by Sigismund, king of Hungary, as severance in 1409. It was also in 1446 when John Hunyadi was elected as the regent-governor of the Kingdom of Hungary by the Diet.
Built in a Renaissance-Gothic style and constructed over the site of an older fortification on a rock above the small Zlaști River, the castle is a large and imposing structure with tall towers, bastions, an inner courtyard, diversely coloured roofs, and myriads of windows and balconies adorned with stone carvings. The castle also features a double wall for enhanced fortification and is flanked by both rectangular and circular towers, an architectural innovation for the period's Transylvanian architecture. Some of the towers (the Capistrano Tower, the Deserted Tower and the Drummers' Tower) were used as prisons. The Buzdugan Tower (a type of mace after which it was named) was solely built for defensive purposes and it had its exterior decorated with geometric motifs. The rectangular shaped towers have large openings to accommodate larger weapons.
The castle has 3 large areas: the Knight's Hall, the Diet Hall and the circular stairway. The halls are rectangular in shape and are decorated with marble. The Diet Hall was used for ceremonies or formal receptions whilst the Knight's Hall was used for feasts. In 1456, John Hunyadi died and work on the castle has stagnated. Starting with 1458, new commissions were being undergone to construct the Matia Wing of the castle. In 1480, work was completely stopped on the castle and it was recognised as being one of the biggest and most impressive buildings in Eastern Europe.
The 16th century did not bring any improvements to the castle, but during the 17th century new additions were made, for aesthetic and military purposes. Aesthetically, the new Large Palace was built facing the town. A two level building, it hosted living chamber and a large living area. For military purposes, two new towers were constructed: the White Tower and the Artillery Tower. Also, the external yard was added, used for administration and storage.
The current castle is the result of a fanciful restoration campaign undertaken after a disastrous fire and many decades of total neglect. It has been noted that modern "architects projected to it their own wistful interpretations of how a great Gothic castle should look".
- The rating of photographers by countries and cities is based on the two best photos of the author and their relative position in each separate nomination. Rating in the nomination "Mobile Photography" is taken into account to a lesser extent for rating formation. The list shows one photo of the author with the best rating.
- The rating for the nominations takes into account one of the best photographs of the author who scored the maximum score.
- Only those photos have been published in the list that passed the second stage of voting.
More recently, we have made an improvement and now we have a new feature - "Series uploading." Even now, you can download from 3 to 10 photos in the series, united by a common idea. Voting for the series will take place separately from other series in their nominations. vote principle remains the same as for single photos. At the moment, series uploading is available for nominations: "Children's Photography", "Wild Animals", "Staged Photography" and "Reportage photo". This feature is available for any improved account.
