Larung Gar [TOP100]
Larung Gar or Larung Five Sciences Buddhist Academy is one of the largest and most active Buddhist institutions on the Tibetan plateau. At time housing over 40,000 monks and nuns, in a log-cabin hermitages that cover the slopes of a secluded side valley.
In June 2016, there is another government policy to drastically reduce the number of monks and nuns living in Larung Gar. The reduction will see the center's population capped at 5,000 by 30 September 2017, according to an official document obtained by RFA's Tibetan Service (source: www.rfa.org) For now, the foreigners are not allowed to enter Larung Gar.
To be one of the few and last people to entered Larung Gar, it really humbled me.
