TRAMVAJEM KROZ SARAJEVO
In Sarajevo, in the afternoon of Thursday, May 5th, a tramway train made its way through the city; its passengers were dolls, like those we see used as shop mannequins. It was a performance - installation by Nora Lefa, MA, MSc, entitled “Tramway through Sarajevo"
The artist says:
The tram is a symbol of Sarajevo. The project is designed to allow multiple interpretations. The dolls are empty signifiers, on which we can project and see the desired meaning: they are the people who are gone, they are the people who are only physically present, they are the people we think they are, of whom we're talking about, or who they wander...
"Once we hear the tramway, the war will be over” people used to say in Sarajevo during the war. Several years on, the war is over, the tram is rolling. Everything is the same, but nothing is the same.
