Autoportrait
"Autoportrait"
To create the work I used a multipinhole technique. I designed a special camera obscura and interchangeable stencils which later made a book. I was able to work out the distribution of pinholes in such a precise way that their density made lighter and darker parts of the image, by more or less overlapping multiplications. The project consists of a number of rectangles, each of them is a 1:1 scan of photographic paper. The process of creating the work - time consuming punching stencils, exposing and developing – was important to me, and similar to climbing a great mountain, step by step. I choose the Matterhorn, which is considered the most beautiful mountain in the world, because it is a mountain symbol, an icon, showing nature as both beautiful and dangerous. This work is about searching for my own path in life and art, an attempt to merge into nature with which I am strongly connected, it is my self-portrait.
