Three warriors
Black women from around the country gathered in Brasilia, capital of Brazil, on 18/11/2015. The 1st National March of the Black Women gathered around 20,000 participants, according to the organization's data.
Official data (2010) indicate that black women are 25.5% of the population (48.6 million people). But this representation does not mean that they suffer from violence, lack of opportunities, racism and social exclusion.
As reported by the official press, among women, black women are the biggest victims of violent crimes. From 2003 to 2013, the murder of black women grew 54.2%, according to the Map of Violence 2015 (prepared by the Ministry of Justice): Homicide of Women in Brazil. In the same period, the rate of white women murders fell 9.8%, according to the study by the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO), at the request of UN Women.
